Rupture
Rupture
Original Painting
A solitary figure folds inward against a fractured ground of black and white. What first appears as an eruption behind her gradually reveals itself as wings - suggested in gesture, and faintly embedded within the textured surface.
Layered acrylic on canvas with elements of charcoal and graphite creates a dense, tactile ground. Beneath the dominant burst of white, a subtle imprint of complete wings lingers - quiet, almost hidden - suggesting transformation rather than destruction.
The tension between containment and expansion defines the work. The figure does not rise yet; she gathers. What appears violent becomes symbolic. What appears fractured becomes becoming.
An exploration of vulnerability, rupture, and the moment just before flight.
